Today I read the newspaper. Yes I also do that once in a while besides working, killing people videogaming, and doing other unnecessary stuff. As we all know are the presidential pre-elections in full swing right now. And it seems that Barack Obama might be slightly ahead of Hillary Clinton. What a surprise! But I like that!
A woman in the White House would be great of course. But Hillary Clinton? I don’t know why, but I don’t like her. She went through a lot of bad things with her husband and I admire her for her patience and how she stood by his side even though he cheated on her (and lied to the whole nation by the way), and she is a tough cookie, but still there is something about her I simply don’t like. And it has nothing to do with her policy either. It’s more a „personal“ thing. I don’t know her personally of course, but I guess it’s pretty clear what I mean.
Obama on the other hand…I like him. And I also don’t know why exactly. He’s way more charismatic than Mrs. Clinton obviously - even though he’s acting a little bit too much like being a „new Messiah“ once in a while. A black Messiah usually is not my kind of guy either, I’m not a very religious person. But a black man in the White House. I would like that
.
There also are still the Republicans of course (almost forgot about them how could this happen,
ooops) – but for me they’re almost non-existent. Sorry guys. But what did you do over the past eight years? Dead GIs in Irak with apparently no end in sight. National debts up. Economy down. Dollar down…..And so on and so forth.
On the other hand: For somebody who is living in Germany and earning Euros, a trip to the United States has NEVER been as cheap as nowadays. So from that point of view I have to thank the beloved George Dubbya on my knees
. He helped me to fill up my closet with American clothes till it almost burst. He helped me to feed my Xbox 360 with US-videogames (at least the ones which are codefree), cause they’re way cheaper over there also. Not to mention DVDs and several other nice things. We almost had to buy a new suitcase when we flew back to Germany (two years ago we actually did that but this time we were smarter and put a small packed suitcase into an empty big one…and voila… there was the additional empty big one…).
So thank you Georgie for that!!! ……………. But that doesn’t neccessarily mean that a Republican should be in the White House again for the next four (or even worse eight) years. No way!!!
So let’s hope for the best!
